“You reconnect with nature in the most intimate and powerful way by becoming aware of your breathing, and learning to hold your attention there, this is a healing and deeply empowering thing to do. It brings about a shift in consciousness, from the conceptual world of thought, to the inner realm of unconditioned consciousness.”eckhart tolle
Being outside in nature has this incredible ability to impact our overall brain health, behaviour and wellness in such a positive way.
Spending time in nature helps to reduce overwhelming feelings of anxiety and depression, it can support and increase our ability to concentrate and think clearer, boost creativity and encourages connection building. Spending time in nature also has the ability to lower the amount of stress hormone, cortisol, we have in our bodies, ultimately calming our body’s fight or flight responses which often can become heightened after a brain injury.

“When we spend time outside in beautiful places, a part of our brain called the subgenual prefrontal cortex, quiets down, and this is the part of the brain that is associated with negative self-reported rumination.”
– Florence Williams
